How To Create A Custom Karaoke CDG Disc

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to take your favorite songs from your CDG collection and burn them to a single disc. Then you would carry only one disc with you when you go out to karaoke instead of a wallet full. It's easier than you might think.

Microstudio is probably the easiest to use program for creating custom CDG compilations. You simply extract song tracks (which you can name individually) from various CDG discs and save them to your hard drive. You then select and burn the song tracks to a blank disc. There is even a CDG player built in to test your finished discs.


There is another great software application named Power CD+G Burner. This program will fill all your CD+G burning needs. The process is very simple.

  • Start Power CD+G Burner and select the Rip tab.
  • Load a CDG disc into your CD writer.
  • Click the Refresh button to display the tracks on the disc.
  • Select the tack(s) that you want to extract from the disc.
  • Select the folder that you will save the tracks to.
  • Select BIN as the output format.
  • Click the Rip button.

    Repeat the above process with your other discs until you have enough songs to fill your custom disc. You can fit approximately 18 songs on an 80 minute CDR.

    Now you are ready to burn the tracks to your custom disc.

  • Select the Burn tab.
  • Click the Add button and browse to the folder where you saved the song tracks.
  • Select all the tracks to be added to your custom disc.
  • Select the Write speed. (Try the highest speed that your writer supports. If you experience problems with the CDG graphics try reducing the write speed.)
  • Make sure that the Simulate box is NOT checked.
  • Click the Burn button.

    In a few minutes you will have a custom CDG disc that will play in any standard CD+G player.

    This software supports nearly all modern CD and DVD writers. You can easily find out if it supports your writer by downloading and trying the trial version.
